In partnership with Pink Lady® apples
3 reasons why Pink Lady® apples are the nutritionist-approved lunchtime fruit

"People are increasingly opting for packed lunches over buying ready made options for a variety of reasons," says Charlotte Faure Green, BANT nutritionist. "With packed lunches you can tailor ingredients to your personal taste, plus they are certainly more cost-effective."

"For me personally, apples are the ultimate lunch staple, and Pink Lady® apples especially – with their perfect blend of crispness and tangy sweetness – are my go-to packed lunch fruit. Their beautiful rosy blush skin makes them not just delicious, but also an Instagram-worthy addition to your meal. Nutritionally, they pack a serious punch in terms of fibre, especially pectin, which supports digestion and keeps your blood sugar levels steady. Plus, they're loaded with vitamin C, making them a smart lunchtime choice for overall health."

And if, like us, you're craving something sweet to follow your lunch? "Pink Lady® apple slices paired with almond butter make for a delicious dessert alternative, without the unnecessary sugar," says Faure Green. "Step away from the chocolate bars and enjoy a naturally sweet treat instead!"

Tomi Akande is a personal trainer at the health and wellness brand UNTIL

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is… have an ice bath followed by some gentle movement. I use my time in the ice bath to do some deep breathing and mentally prepare for the day, before moving on to some gentle stretches to get my blood flowing. I'll also have some electrolytes.

My go-to breakfast is… a packed protein shake with protein powder, kefir, chia seeds, strawberries and milk – sometimes with a shot of espresso on the side. If I've got a little bit more time, I'll make myself sourdough topped with avocado and poached eggs. The perfect combination of flavour and fuel.

Staying fueled throughout the day involves… lots of snacks. They're my absolute saviour. You'll always find me munching on nuts, sipping a protein shake or grabbing a quick coffee between clients – basically, anything I can eat on the go. Pre-workout, I'll often reach for quick carbs like sweets to keep me going.

Outside of work, you'll find me… staying active. I'm incredibly sporty, so anything that challenges me or gets me sweating is a win. I play a lot of hockey and tennis because I find there's nothing like the competitive rush. I'm also a sucker for a good dance class – if it's got a beat, I'm there!

Before bed, I always take time to… wind down properly. I typically do some foam rolling and use my massage gun just before bed, and always try to avoid using screens no matter how tempted I am to scroll on Instagram. It's a must, because getting good sleep is a non-negotiable for me.

This green kale pasta is ready in minutes and contains 30% of your RDA for folate

Getting enough folate in your diet is important. Not only does it help us make red blood cells and ensure healthy cell function, but it can reduce the risk of heart disease and age-related vision loss. But despite this, statistics show that many of us are not getting our recommended 200mg a day.

This recipe from Discover Great Veg will go some way towards fixing that. Packed full of kale – one of the most nutritious vegetables – it boasts 30% of your folate RDA, as well as a healthy dose of immune-supporting vitamin C and bone-friendly vitamin K. Add a squeeze of lemon to increase the kale's bioavailability and iron absorption, and you've got yourself a nutritious and delicious dinner that's ready in minutes. What more could you want?
