A whistleblower has come forward with more allegations of political bias against Trump supporters among employees at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
During a House Oversight Committee hearing on an incident of anti-Trump discrimination at FEMA, a new whistleblower revealed to Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R., Ky.) another alleged incident of political bias involving a FEMA employee.
“During the recess for votes, my staff made contact with a new whistleblower who provided a credible account that a FEMA contractor visited the home of an elderly disabled veteran’s family around October 10 following Hurricane Helene,” Comer said at the hearing.
“While there, the FEMA contractor recommended that the family remove Trump campaign materials and signs from both their house and yard. He warned the family that his FEMA supervisors do not take kindly to Trump supporters and that they seem like domestic terrorists,” he continued.
“The elderly homeowners were so frightened by this and afraid that they would not recover their loss that they removed all Trump materials and signs. Nevertheless, FEMA has not returned to their residence. This took place not in Florida, but Georgia.”

The Oversight Committee received corroboration from the whistleblower that a FEMA contractor visited the homeowners on the date in question roughly five weeks ago, a source familiar told National Review.
National Review has reached out to FEMA for comment.
FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell testified to the Oversight Committee Tuesday afternoon about a separate incident of anti-Trump discrimination by former employee Marn’i Washington, who was fired from the agency after ordering workers to avoid houses with Trump signs in Highland County, Florida.
Washington subsequently alleged in media interviews that the pattern of FEMA employees sidestepping Trump homes was widespread. She has said she gave the order at the suggestion of her supervisor and argued that it was issued after FEMA canvassers were repeatedly met with hostility by Trump-supporting homeowners. FEMA policy, Washington pointed out, advises that employees take preemptive action to avoid hostile interactions.
The Daily Wire first reported on Washington’s directive earlier this month, causing a firestorm among those who criticized FEMA’s slow delivery of supplies to western North Carolina and other parts of the country dealing with significant damage from Hurricane Helene. Conservatives have also tied the incident to a broader problem of left-wing ideology among the civil service employees who make up most of the administrative state.
Criswell insisted to lawmakers the Washington incident was a one-off and not representative of the culture at FEMA. She repeatedly noted the fact that FEMA is internally investigating the situation and that she requested the agency’s inspector general to investigate it independently. Upon the discovery of Washington’s actions, Criswell said FEMA ordered another team to reach 20 homes around Lake Placid, Florida that were neglected because of Washington’s instructions.
In contrast to Washington, Criswell said there are no FEMA policies that encourage political discrimination and denied the existence of any widespread anti-Trump sentiment among FEMA employees. Criswell also dismissed news reports suggesting that there is a culture of political bias at the emergency relief agency.
Democrats on the Oversight Committee all condemned Washington’s political discrimination, but shifted the conversation during the hearing to other topics such as climate change and online “disinformation” about FEMA.
