Glas Italia, always environmentally aware of the issues of sustainability and respect for the environment and conscious that every production process has an impact on the world in which we live, is proud to announce a new energy efficiency project.
A state-of-the-art photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof of the Macherio headquarters, allowing the Company to use clean energy for its production processes and save the emission into the atmosphere of over 57 tons of CO2 per year. A significant contribution to decarbonisation and environmental protection of the territory.

This is only the latest step in a path undertaken in recent years, which also includes the recent installation of a new water purification and recirculation system, a resource widely used in glass processing. The ultra-modern plant runs through the production departments and connects all the machines that use water, purifying it immediately and minimizing its consumption. The result is the constant availability of clean water for production, with positive effects on the quality of the products and on the quality and sustainability of the work environment.

But sensitivity to environmental issues is revealed in all of Glas Italia’s choices, from design to the finished product: the paints used for glass lacquers are water-based, solvent-free and without harmful substances;  the upholstery materials of the seats are made from recycled plastics from the oceans; production management programs allow optimization of raw materials by minimizing waste, which is properly disposed of or recycled into new production.
In some cases, glass waste coming from production is even recycled after being reduced to grit to create new products with a strong aesthetic impact: this is the case of the recent Simoon and Babar collections, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Glas Italia.

Even Glas Italia headquarters, designed by Piero Lissoni, is a “box” built with high-performance glass. This glass, in maintaining excellent levels of light transmittance and at the same time visual comfort of the internal working spaces, contains thermal dispersion, ensuring a comfortable environment in every season of the year and with a reduced impact on energy consumption.
Finally, as well when choosing its suppliers, Glas Italia pays particular attention to the environmental impact of the transport of raw materials: the glass used is produced almost exclusively in Italy and the other materials come from suppliers in the Brianza district, heart of Made in Italy design and quality furniture.

These significant and constant upgrades confirm Glas Italia's attention to sustainability and energy transition topics and to respect the strictest regulations on environmental protection. Above all, Glas Italia is a company that has chosen to work exclusively with glass, par excellence the ecofriendly material, completely natural and infinitely recyclable.
